1966 Rolex Submariner ref. 5513 'Gilt Meters First"
1966 Rolex Submariner ref. 5513 'Gilt Meters First"
What We Fancy
The reference 5513 was first introduced in 1962 and remained in production until 1989. This reference is legendary and is often duplicated or taken as inspiration for other dive watches. Initially produced with a glossy/ "gilt" dial, like the one we have here, the ref. 5513 switched to a matte-dial finish in the late 1960s, around 1966. But it is the earlier glossy/ gilt dials that really get collectors excited. This example is in overall excellent condition and comes from a private collection.
