What We Fancy
The Rolex Daytona has reached legendary status in the watch collecting world and the 2010s saw a boom in the market for all variations. The Daytona started in 1963 with the ref. 6239, the “Cosmograph”, a chronograph with a tachymeter scale on the bezel and was first marketed for racecar drivers. In 1988, Rolex introduced the first automatic chronograph movement in a Daytona, the “Zenith” Daytona 16520. It was at Baselworld in 2000 that this reference was first introduced. The reference 116520 was the first automatic Daytona with an in-house movement, the caliber 4130. This example we have here is from 2009 and is in completely new/unused condition. It was a birthday gift that was never worn. As you can see in the photos, the stickers are still on the case/ bracelet. It is extremely difficult to find completely unused/ new old stock Daytona’s and we’re happy to be offering this stunning 116520.
