1975 Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 1002 'Sigma'

1975 Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 1002 'Sigma'
What We Fancy
The Oyster Perpetual reference 1002 was produced for nearly 30 years from the 1950s until the 1980s. With a smaller 34mm case with a smooth bezel and chronometer-certified movement, this watch is the real deal. This example here dates to 1975 and features a rare “Sigma” dial. A Sigma dial is named for the letters printed at the bottom. At the 6 o'clock position. Most Rolex dials are commonly marked with “T Swiss T,” under the 6 o'clock marker, however, a Sigma dial is marked “σ T SWISS T σ.” This signifies the use of gold components within the dial. Another characteristic that makes this piece interesting is the dial has aged to a lavender hue.
